Head Instructor
Sensei Jesse Arnold
My name is Jesse Arnold, and I have trained in Martial Arts for over 14 years and have taught for more than 11 years. I received training from an MYB (Midori Yama Budokai) school. I have taught men, women, children, security staff, Air Force and Navy personnel and have also given private lessons to police officers and Marines. I have training in Aikido (Shinko Kaiten Aikido & Nihon Goshin Aikido), Karate, Ju-Jitsu, and Tae Kwon Do. These Martial Arts have influenced me to form a more street practical version of Aikido, Gendai Aikido. I completely respect the traditional version of Aikido; without it I wouldn’t have the solid foundation I have today. Traditional Aikido is a beautiful Martial Art, but that’s exactly what it is an “art”. It has the potential to be so much more. Gendai Aikido is the potential unlocked.

Assistant Instructor
Sensei Matt Watkins
My name is Matt Watkins. I started my training in Aikido in 2003. In 2007 I started implementing the grappling from Ju Jitsu, and the striking techniques from Karate and Tae Kwon Do. Gendai Aikido blends all of these martial arts. I am currently a Shodan (1st degree) Black Belt in Gendai Aikido. I assist with the adult Aikido class and the Junior Dragons' class from time to time.

Sparring Instructor
Sensei Andy Hill
My name is Andy Hill and I'm the instructor for the Gendai Aikido sparring team. In 1986 I started training in Karate and Ju Jitsu. I am certified with the WTF. I am a member of the AAU and have competed with the AAU. I am also a member of USA Judo. My Karate training was under the United Ketsugo Karate Association. I currently train in and hold a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. I also train with Sensei Arnold in Aikido. Staying healthy and active is a life long goal for me. Martial arts is the best way I know how to meet my goal.
Assistant Instructor
Sensei Reuben Bennett
My name is Reuben Bennett. I have over 12 years of martial arts training. For 8 of those years I trained in Boxing, Kick Boxing and Muay Thai. I respect and value the fundamentals of the striking martial arts. These arts are very effective. However, I don’t believe that striking or taking the offense in dangerous situations is always the best action. I came to this understanding by realizing that striking does not disarm attackers who choose to use weapons. The training I've received from Gendai Aikido has given me the techniques I need to handle every type of attack, and it has made me more diverse than I could have ever imagined. You can’t have a good offense without a good defense. Gendai Aikido is the best defense you can have.
